Blackout emblems?

My 22 HL came with Blackout emblems that were put on at the "port".
Are they solid black or an overlay?
If an overlay how are they attached?
Glue or just pressed on? ?

They are a solid black overlay that is applied with double sided tape. I have had mine for 2 years with no issues.

I think that they look good with certain color combos... but as Louie52398 said- they are just overlays that are applied with double-sided tape. I'd be really worried that after a few years, one would fly off in a carwash. If my Highlander had those... I'd certainly buy an extra set and keep it handy just in case one of the letters flew off after a few years. Toyota doesn't always keep accessory items like this in-stock or in-production once a model or generation ends... so I'd keep a set handy just in case.

They retail for $160 but you can find them online for $132... and there's frequently 'open box' items on Ebay for less than $100- but I'm not sure about the quality of those.

None for the Platinum trim unfortunately. If anyone can find any even aftermarket for Platinum please share

I can’t confirm first hand but I remember reading a forum post that the blackout overlays for limited included the overlays for platinum

Online accessories show no kit for Platinum. I highly doubt Toyota would stick badges that do not apply to vehicle that is sold for and not sell any for Platinum because they sell for Limited.

Aftermarket versions are out there but Toyota still hasn't released an OEM set yet.

You should also change the tail light to LED. You don't see the ugly orange housing for turn signal when driving. It fits in very well with the black emblem.

Done the led signals, lic plate, all interiour lights including 4k front sunglass holder area ones, i have interiour footwell ones ordered already, side step oem door sill illuminated protectors, reverse led, front heaflight led corners and amber delete as for light mods
