Why wait for the official unveiling of the BMW 1 Series M Coupe at the Detroit Auto Show four months from now when you can see it now – thanks to the artistry of Jon Sibal. Designed using BMW teaser images, spy photos and some insider information we’ve been told that this rendering is very close to the real thing.

Shown in a stunning Valencia Metallic Orange the front bumper mimics that of the E92 M3 but with sharper angles, while the fender vents are larger than on previous M cars, helping to accentuate the flared fenders. The side skirts are also similar to those found on the M3, but again are more angular. Also of note is a slightly raised hood, black (Shadowline) kidney grille slats and a ducktail rear spoiler.

And perhaps most exciting is news of a carbon fiber roof, although this item may get cut as BMW tries to cut costs in an effort to make the car as affordable as possible.

Other items of note include white LED angle eye headlights, as well as M3 Competition 19-inch wheels with M3 brakes.

As for the engine, BMW is still mum on that aspect, but its believed to be a modified N54 turbocharged inline-six making around 350-hp.

Seen videos of this car inside the cabin as well. There is nothing M about it. Just a M-sport 135. That's it.

This is the beginning of the end of M division. It is more marketing and cost cutting now. One thing M cars always had were purpose built engines all the way from E30 M3 to E9X M3 and E60 M5. They all were high-revving N/A engines as well.

This car has a modified 335 N55 turbo engine that will produce a bit more power much like the X5 M and X6 M SUVs, which have the same engine the new upcoming M5 will have.
Meh.

Overpriced too.
While I agree that you got to pay an arm and a leg for these cars, especially when you order the $$ options, they freakin' nice to drive. Always enjoying riding in my buddy's 335i Coupe with the M Sport package.

You took the words out of my mouth. You're welcome.
