Alright folks, here's the deal. I have a 1991 Turbo, that when purchased, had a jimmy rigged boost controller on it. It's basically 2 hoses coming up into the lower compartment of the box in between the 2 seats. It has some sort of dial on the top, but it looks like something made out of parts from Home Depot. It would be fine if it actually worked, but it doesn't give me a constant boost and it's very annoying. So, i'm gonna rip it out and upgrade to smoething that will hopefully work. Now here's the question.

Should I get a MBC or an EBC. Which ever you suggest, if you could provide me with some recommendations that would be a great help! Thanks

Jeremy

Other than being able to dial in the boost level from the drivers seat, is there any other benefit?

Sure:

*simple to install, simple to use
*you can set up to 5 different boost settings
*warning mode with a limiter function (keeps you safe)
*you can adjust from the seat
*compared to other EBC's ~ it does not have any "learning modes"
*built in boost gauge (reads in hg/cm2 though)
*peak hold (Shows max boost attained on a run)

Well, frankly I love your work. I think your MR2's are amazing, and am glad to get advise from you. My only reason i was leaning toward a MBC is because of money. I'm a poor college kid and am not sure whether at this point the benefits of the EBC justify the large price difference. Also, I'm not so sure how much i trust used boost controllers because of the fact that they could have been screwed up, and then could screw up my car. But if i could find a used Blitz DSBC that i know is in perfect condition for a good price, i would definitely go for it.

Yeah, i wrote that before going to the website and seeing that there is only one choice. I wanna get a membership too so that A - i'll know what's going on in the mr2 community, and B - get some great discounts on all the cool stuff at twosrus.com!!

Now, one MBC i found said something in the instructions about a factory EBC? It said something about blocking off the line to it to put in a MBC. Is this true?

Yep. You just plug the hose coming/going into the rightside of the wastegate actuator. and then plug that side of the actuator. It's pretty simple. I have a twosrus MBC... very pleased w/ it.

ok...so maybe you could tell me why the boost controller that is on there now sucks. i looked, and it is connected at what looks to be the right areas. he ran the hoses into the console box, and there it has all plastic fittings, with this knob that just spins till it's all the way tight..and then all the way out as far as you want to go. Now, if i spin it all the way in, it seems to have almost no boost, but if i spin it out a couple turns, it may boost up to like 9psi once or twice...but then will just sit at like 4psi and not boost any more. i have no clue whether i could just fix it...or whether it's junk and just needs replaced

gotcha...is there a way to paste the picture directly in the message though? I've seen some people doing that. I took some pics today but my digital camera sucks so we'll see. I took apart the entire console and pulled the thing out to see if it was crimped or anything. So far everything thing looks normal. I think it might just be a piss poor boost controller:thumbdown
