Is the 2012 Highlander suppose to be equipped with a brake throttle override? I know there was some discussion about it after the Toyota debacle, but I hadn't heard much more about it. Just for grins, I tried to see if it was on mine, and it was not.

They all have it. My guess is you didn't do it right when testing. It only works in certain situations. Here's the info from Toyota's website:

Maybe I'm missing something, but what is the purpose of this override system? When would it be used?

it is suppose to allow the brake to override the throttle in the event of an unintended acceleration.
