Looking for some opinions or recommendations on a 4 channel amp to run 2 x 6.5 F and 2 x 6x9 R. Speakers are not purchased yet but will be 'entry level' around the 50-75W RMS range.

Reference project is here: http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/1...411458-need-help-upgrade-recommendations.html

Is anybody familiar with the Sony Xplod XMZR604? [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Sony-XM-ZR604-Channel-Stereo-Amplifier/dp/B002R8MSKS[/ame] . This series is trashed pretty hard around here but it makes sense with my budget.

Would love to hear more options, must be able to be purchased in Canada, preferably $150 range.

Thanks!

I have this amp (Pioneer GM-D9500F), I would check it out.

It powers my front door 6x9's and rear door 6.75". Its 80 watts RMS 4 ohms and 100 watts at 2 ohm. Plus its a D class so its efficient and small.

after looking through the other thread you linked, 6x9's are power hungry. but when powered they get loud. I don't think a headunit's 17 watts could even dream of keeping up with a 80 watt 6x9. My 6x9's are deafening loud.

Looks like a very nice unit, unfortunately up here in Canada the stuff is much more expensive. Most places sell that one for $300 and I'm leery about buying over the border. In my range, closest option I can find is this would be something like: http://www.crutchfield.ca/Sound_Ordnance_M4075_75W_x_4_Car_Amplifier_p/777m4075.htm but I am unfamiliar with this brand and dont know if it would be any better than the Sony.

Oh shoot, have to buy in Canada...read over that  sorry

Sound Ordnance is Crutchfield's store brand, I have never had experience with the brand besides using their sub box's (which are nice). Specs wise it looks good and it has a 3 year warranty (always a plus). Only downside is its not CEA certified, so its not guarenteed to produce the power the specs say (I've been burned by that in the past), but its not a cheap brand either so you should be fine. Crutchfield wouldn't make an inferior product like that I believe.

After looking at crutchfield.ca & amazon.ca I don't think your going to get better than that for $150. You would be looking at the ~$200+ range to get that kind of power from a major brand.

Lol, no prob! I did some looking around and came across the Alpine MRP-F300. Still a bit overbudget at $200 and only 50x4 but is class D and very well reviewed. Will just have to make good speaker and HU decisions!

Thanks for your input!

For budged amps these Aura RPMs from Parts Express have gotten pretty good reviews http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=269-190 if you aren't opposed to going used I would suggest looking at diymobileaudio.com in their for sale section there usually are great deals in there from other users.
I appreciate your input, I looked into this line and it doesn't appear to be sold in Canada. Most carriers will not deliver to PO boxes (rural address where I live) and the company I work for will not accept personal international shipments as duty/brokerage is automatically billed to the company. I have access to shops with Canadian shipping warehouses (Crutchfield, Futureshop, Best Buy, etc).

Thanks!

I am running the MRX-F30 which is the class D version of the MRP-F300. I paid about $150. It is rated 50x4 and 75x4 @ 2 ohm. Actual tested output is around 90x4 @ 2 ohm. It slams, never heats up, and the cooling fan in my head unit is louder than the amp noise floor. There is also an MRX-F35 in some markets which is the 2012 version that packs more power.

Have you looked at the alpine ktp-445u?

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500KTP445U/Alpine-KTP-445U.html?tp=115

I don't have any experience with it but it makes for a cheap and easy upgrade since it just plugs in and doesn't look it it require a dedicated power source from the battery.

I looked at that but havent found an alpine HU that I like, I think i get better bang for my buck with the store brand On sale for $120 http://www.crutchfield.ca/Sound_Ordnance_M4075_75W_x_4_Car_Amplifier_p/777m4075.htm. Looking at either Kenwood KDC-BT652U (price) or KDC-BT852HD (appearance).

My next challenge is figuring out the speakers. There is a Polk db series special at Crutchfield and db651s and db691 both get very good reviews but the site says not compatible with my car. Anyone ever put these in a gen 9 Corolla? Maybe that should be a new thread...

Thanks all!
