Hi everyone, need some help on a purchase. Can purchase an 08 at dealer invoice, less the $1,000 rebate, which puts me at $1,ooo under dealer invoice. Or 09 at $500 off MSRP. That figures to about a $2500 difference. Both are base 4 cy CE automatic trans. Opinions appreciated.
My other concern is the transmission issues Ive been reading about on this forum. Wouldn't think that has been solved yet. Iam going to ask to speak with the service manager regarding my concern. Dealer only has two Blue's left on the lot, will try to drive both. 09 still on the trucks.

Go V6!!!

Get the best deal you can on a 08 or 09 V6.
IMHO..the only reason to buy a Camry is the V6!!
The good looks, and great value also helps......

Again..this is only my opinion.

What do you say Lammydi?

Assuming your wife will be driving the car for many years, I'd make an offer $2,000 below the claimed invoice amount. Plus the $1,000 rebate, of course. The dealer likely has a $600 or so "hold back" to play with and needs to move the 08's to cut his floor plan cost.

Wow $2 grand under invoice, less $600 holdback means the dealer would lose $1400 plus his floorplan interest. Dont think that will fly, but I go by start low and see what happens. Its a camry, not a ford.

Yeh might mod her with tinted windows(for her birthday) maybe a different grill( for mothers day) and some nice wheels (for xmas). Not sure about the wheels, maybe upgraded wheel covers, she likes to hug the curb when she parks and you now what that does to the cromes.

:) I like your attitude and plan!:clap: Same with me...I am supposed to take care/mod my wifes RX-8...and she also hugs the curbs (forgot, she also hugs the curb or parking lot blocks with her lower front skirt)....I just changed Rims on hers because of that. Now she wants me to add all these little rotary accents, lower grill inserts, than off to custom paint accents (and fix the front skirt/lip) etc etc.

Took the plung, wife driving her 08 Blue Camry, sorry only 4cy. Did her first mode, pinstripe. Painter was at dealership and we went with a gray/med white, think it brings the blue out a bit. He hand paints and gives lifetime satisfaction(guess that would be his lifetime)

Thanks for all the help and comments. Reading other treads have already answered alot of questions I had.

Paid Dealer Invoice less 1K rebate, less 1K for our trade. Couldn't get any holdback money, but dealer has to make a few bucks. Plus they threw in my first oil change. Since I work at local bank and do indirect(dealer financing) also cut their backend profit. Finance rate of 4.99 X 60 months, and 7yr/60K ext warranty,bump-bumper(wife only puts on 6-7K a year) 0 ded for $750. Here in PA we pay 6% sales tax on Sales Price less trade allowance. State gets the tag/title/lien fee.
