I'm having trouble finding a decently priced cat for my 5sfe. Anyone have ideas? All the ones I find say I can't use them in California. Anyone have a clue as to the differences? They look just the same and with the correct bungholes for the 02 Sensor.

The ones listed here are one's I've found...but won't work because of CA laws.

Confirmed...I need a new cat. And possibley some new sensors..but the sensors are easy...this is about the cat:

Cat for gen 3.5 96 I4

Looking for a cat for my 5sfe (obdII) / California Emissions.

Umm...I'm looking around and I found these companies make oem replacements that are direct bolt ons:

Bosal
Catco
DEC
Eastern
Magnaflow
Walker

from here http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/pe...6&partid=3 55

Ummm...My question is: Is one company better than another? Or does it not matter and just get the cheapest one they have? Second question is...is there such a thing as a direct bolt on for the 5sfe that is high performance? Or does it mean I'd have to go and tweak the pipes in order to fit a generic "performance/highflow" cat?

My application is...I don't really want to switch out anything that isn't necessary right now...I just want a replacement.

Thanks guys,

Dave

you know... i have the same problem / question which is better they should be all the same right?
i wanna get a cat to but im sure it would cost big $$$ to get one
a cat is suppose to be a high flow exhast or whatever right?
what about a regular preformance exhast from the comanys listed below (or above)
arent they suppose to be a better flow / sounding than OEM
sorry for highjack but,
is it close to or not at all to a cat

Rning - why you wanna change it out?just wanna get something better? or do you think its time to change it out?

Actually those are just around 200 to 300 bucks. But our problem is they aren't supposed to go on our california cars.

This place: http://www.californiacatalyticconverter.com/ seems to have cats for us...but they don't have a price for mine. Comparing it to the other prices they list for other cats...I'm going to assume a +500 price on an oem replacement!

Sheesh.

Edit:

And it's because the cat is bad. And living in Cali, I don't want any hassels when it comes time for a smog check. Just happy with the car as it is.
