So I am on a head gasket job, when trying to remove the fuel rail I noticed a broken sensor (or sender) dangling around, it goes from the harness where the second fuel injector (from the passenger side), checked the diagram but was not able to identify this one. Anyone had worked on a fuel rail before and know where this sensor (sender) go? I check the back of the cylinder head, don't think it goes there.

Thank you!

I pulled the sensor up for taking pictures, it was hanging below.

Excuse me, I looked and looked to find some neat pictures and the only one I found was a GEN4 Camry that the owner had to perform the same as you.

Perhaps if you look carefully, you will find this connector?

Best of luck!

That is indeed the knock sensor, broken off and pulled out of the metal shell. It comes down between intake runners and plugs in, I'm sure you will find the shell still screwed into the block.

The 5S knock sensor is bulletproof (read: I've never had to change one due to non-visible failure), so get another from the Pick-n-pull and swap it in.

Darn it! It is the knock sensor! Good thing is that many toyota models have this part, so I should have a good chance to score a good one from the junk yard!

Thank you @insightbrewery and @Cosmofennema !
