cutting the shaft only looks short not decrease the Throw
im trying with the TC 1 at Wednesday.. ill post Pic if that work
short shifter vs shorter shifter. (hey, was just playing with words :) )

Anybody has numbers how that improves the throw? Also, I read the 6 speed is much faster than the 5 speed auto...how does the 6 speed auto compares to the manu w/ or w/o short shifter?

Well, i did say the ghetto way... hahaha... lots of civic owners do it and it does reduce it a little bit since the radius is shorter

you can't really compare the 6 speed and 5 speed auto, since only V6's come with a 6speed and 4cyl have 5speed... but it's all in the gearing

i really dont see how making the shaft shorter will make the shifts shorter without changing the actual shifter mechanism...unless im missing something

I know but at least you can directly compare the switch time. You can easily find that info for high end sports cars and I thought I have seen that for the new Camry as well but a) can't find it anymore and b) not sure if I remember the correct numbers (my memory tells me that the new 6 speed shift time is in the 100ms range while the older 5 speed was almost twice that much). Anybody?

youre right, especially with our stock shifter i feel quite a bit of resistance when i shift.. with the current shifter i wouldn't be very comfortable with the "throwing" movement. we would definitely need to change some internals, but i would be game to try it

The manual transmission in the tC and the Camry are the same aside from final drive and 5th gear ratio AFAIK. Although the transmission are very close, they do have different designators.

That does not, however mean that the shifter mechanism in the console is the same though.

you know, no matter how fast we can get from gear to gear, i think my car is still going to be pretty slow comparatively....
