Just bought a 2010 HL with 15000 miles on it. I bought it from a Honda dealer so I wasn't able to get it certified with a Toyota warranty.

The dealership was selling Fidelity aftermarket warranties. I declined it so I could check into my options. I can always add it later I was told.

So, is there any way to get the real Toyota warranty or am I stuck with an aftermarket one? I would definitely prefer to stick with the manufacturer if possible. I've read very mixed reviews on the Fidelity warranty.

Thanks.

As long as you are under 3yr/36k I don't see any reason why not. Check the warranty thread for dealerships that are willing to sell for $75-$100 above their cost. Definitely go with the TFS warranty vs. 3rd party.

When you call all you need to say is I have a 2010 with ____ miles, VIN is _________. I don't think it makes a difference whether you bought it new or used and sometimes less info is more (just in case) :naughty:

Yes. As noted above, you just need to still be within your factory warranty. In case you missed it, we have a sticky at the top of the forum on contacts (you'll save hundreds via these contacts versus walking into a dealership). I've only heard from people in the Tacoma section dealing with Troy which has always been very positive.

I'll have to go back to the thread on the warranties. I did read it but I was assuming it was for new vehicles only.

Thanks!

I bought my Highlander new and opted not to get the extended warranty because I was sucked into buying it with my previous Highlander due to a bad experience with the previous car. I got the top warranty you could get with it but every time I went to use it they would be like oh that's not covered so I said F it.

I bought both of my cars from Toyota dealers, the HL was new so new car warranty, the Tacoma was certified so it had warranty. I'm just wondering if I bought my Tacoma from say a Honda dealer (not certified) and it was 2 years old with 35,000 KM - would it still be covered by the 3/60k warranty or is it that voided when the vehicle is traded?

Should still be covered. I bought mine used w/ 35k miles from a caddy dealership in 2010, and it was covered under the factory 3/36k general & 5/60k power-train warranties.

If I'm not mistaken, the extended warranty must be purchased before the 36th month the car was put into service by Toyota.
Or sooner. It must be purchased before the factory warranty expires which is the sooner of 36 months OR 36k miles.
