Do you feel it front to back like it's hesitating or left to right like it's shaking?

CV joints don't typically get damaged or worn unless the boot is torn allowing the grease to get out. Generally the worn cv will make a clicking or rattling noise on turns or on acceleration in extreme cases. If your hearing no unusual noises it would be unlikely that the cv is causing what your feeling.

Well there is a noise. A loud bang whenever i turn the steering wheel fully to the left or right. It comes from the front left wheel area and sounds like something snapping in and out of place. It started a few days ago.

Im going to get it looked but wondered if it could also be the cause of a juddery ride.

Sounds like you have a few different issues. Its hard to say without being able to experience the noise and juttering first hand. I would guess the snapping noise when turning the wheel is probably an upper strut bearing thats binding and causing the strut spring to jump or snap in and out of its normal resting spot.

^+1 on Shawn's. My strut mount broke on my 90 Camry. I was jacking the front end of the car up to inspect the suspension and the like and the strut just dropped down to the limit of the suspension because it was no longer attached to the mount. Kind of scary! I'm not sure how different the new mounts are but you should be able to visually reassure yourself that they are good or not.

Inspect the top of the strut mount from the engine bay (remove any snap covers) and jack the car up and look up with a flashlight from the wheel well while you wiggle the hub.
