We are considering purchasing a 2008 Toyota Highlander but are concerned about fitting an infant carseat and subsequent carseats in the middle of the second row. According to the January 2008 Consumer Reports review of the Higlander, many carseats will not fit properly in this position (which makes me wonder why Toyota chose to make this change in the redesign!). We tried the carseat in the middle position and it appears to work but we are by no means, experts in this. Anyone have any insight?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I have 3 car seats installed in the middle row of my '08 HL. Here is how I have them in.

Driver's side: convertible car seat attached with latch and tether.
Middle: convertible car seat attached with shoulder belt (with belt clip) and tether.
Passenger's side: booster seat attached with shoulder belt.

This all works fine. I had actually tested it all out before purchasing the vehicle. You should be able to an infant seat in the middle or either side without a problem.

Good luck!
