I have the I4 2.4L (2AZ-FE) as well, try the reset method and see if it works for you.Mines only last for a couple seconds also but Im afraid it might cause damage/problems to other parts of the car. I read other forums such as Lexus, Honda and they have similiar problems. They state that engine may need to heat before turning on the A/C? Not all Camry etc. have this problem so it concerns me.

RPM going down too? check battery and alternator, most likely battery going bad and it does not send enough current to consumers when it should help to alternator on low RPM.My 07 Camry vibrates uncontrollably when the A/C is turned on and my car is in park. I took it to Toyota in the past and they said they couldnt find a problem
