CarFax-Partail Loss $0??

I just wanted to know if this makes sense to anyone here. This is for a toyota echo that I purchased 2 weeks back- I am loving it apart from what I am fearing to find out about it.

In the CarFax history it reports the car has incurred a "Partial Loss" under accident type and the Magnitude of the accident is reported as "$0", What does this mean? Also under accident estimate data it says "no records found".

Does this mean that the car had an accident and the car was repared at the owner's expense? or is this some kind of glitch in CarFax's records?

CarFax defines the following "accident Types": Collision, Total Loss, Fire Claim, Comprehensive Theft, Miscellaneous and Collision with Trailers. They don't define "Partial Loss" as this report claims the car has incurred.

I am really hoping that this vechicle has not seen any serious accidented. Anyone know what a"partial loss" of $0 magnitude might mean? or other sources that provide vechicle history in Ontario, Canada?

Thanks guys

WRONG FORUM, this is MEETS only. Moving to General Discussion forums.

That explains it.. Carfax doesn't work properly for Canada, only in the US. If you're in Canada use the Ministry of Transportation for the proper records. :disappoin

Try running a Carproof.com record, it's canadian based.

I'm going to take a random stab n the dark and say that the car was broken into. No car parts were stolen but the contents probably was. So that would explain the $0 maybe???
Contact them for a follow up.

I used to work with CarProof and they would make mistakes and falsely label cars as "Partial Loss's" all the time. (It's a bigger issue then you would think)

One example was a customer leased a 1999 BMW 325, crash that car, have it fixed, and lease a newer 2003 BMW 325 and transfer the plates over to the new car. For some reason carproof would also label the 2003 325 as a car with accident history. Even though the new car was never hit.

Also, have a mechanic physically look at the car, a properly trained mechanic can easily see where a car has been hit, how bad it was and things like that.
