Hello everyone: I recently bought a 86 pickup, the cat has been cut out and there is nothing there currently, Does anyone know if I just pipe together with muffler, will there be any detrimental effects on the 22R or performance or do I need to replace the cat? Thanks.

If you don't need it for inspection purposes, it will have no ill-effects to straight pipe it. Mine is physically there but functionally it had the $hit beat out of it.

Other than not passing emissions tests (if you have them), not having it really won't affect performance or mpg unless it is a US CA emissions truck with front and rear O2 sensors.
