Arrghhh! I have a 2007 SE 4cyl with 1700 miles. Build date was mid december. I fire it up Thursday morning and CEL light comes on. I figure its probably gas cap, so I check it- tight as can be. I go to autozone after work and they pull the P0441 code- aka probably Gas Cap. Well, they clear it and the damn CEL comes back on this morning. Now its at the dealer becasue popping that code twice with a tight gas cap means its leaking somewhere....

I'm sure this is a fairly minor deal(might just need a new gas cap), but I am furious that I am now wasting time with the dealer on a new car. This issue has shaken my confidence in Toyota and the Car. This car replaced a '97 Honda Accord that had the CEL light come on one time at 120k for an O2 sensor and never had any other issue in the ten years I owned it. I looked passed the complaints I saw on the boards about Toyota quality and stayed away from a V6. I waited till the car was 10 months into its cycle to try and avoid some of the new car issues.

At this point I'm concerned that I'll be spending the next 7-9 years wishing I bought an Accord. I hope I am wrong......

the fun continues

after four hours at the dealer last Saturday they said they found the gas cap seal to be leaking so they replaced it and sent me on my way. Thursday morning I fire up the car and the CEL comes back on. Can't wait to spend half the day back at the dealer again today.
