Hi guys, my wife has a cup break on her and spilled soda in my truck. The majority of it went on the center console. What I am concerned about is if it went in the small hole where the gear shift is. Do I need to remove it and check it out and if so does it come off in two pieces (upper and lower) or as 1 big piece?

you can pop off the shifter cover by just pulliing up. i like to start in the corner where the cup holder is and then work my way around counter clockwise. that gives you a pretty decent opening to put you hands in and clean around. if you need to completely remove the center console, then let me know and i will help you further.

Does the shifter cover include that entire pierce with the individual cup holder or just the smaller piece that includes the tray?
the enitre silver peice basically, including the individualy holder and tray. the entire silver peice is one peice and comes of as one.

it is pretty easy to take apart. the top part around the shifter just pops off. that might get you in enough to see the damage. the larger part with the armrest also comes off easily. there are bolts under the black felt pad in the bottom and a few screws on the side. The front cup holder also pops right out. I forget how to take out the larger front part though.

Good luck, make sure you clean it up really good, that stuff stays sticky
My wife spilled a coke on her shifter in her civic and it got so sticky in one day that you had to use both hands to shift

I LOVE THIS PLACE. Thanks for all your help. I popped it right off cleaned it up, now the only place I am worried about is the rubber where that moves witht the actual shifter.
THANKS

The soda you can't get to, Spray it with a 50/50 mix of alcohol and water, and wipe with a towel as good as you can. Hopefully the excess soda will run down, and not stay in between those moving plastic plates around the shifter. Clean it up now before it gets sticky. That could turn into a sticky dirty area later on.

:rolleyes:It seems that most women don't give a damn about cars. My wife does the same thing...thankfully she hasn't destroyed my truck yet, but all my past cars is a different story!:disappoin
My gf is the same.... But I told her whats up! Womens' vehicles are 95% of the time dirty. I don't understand why
