I've searched on previous topics and I haven't found anyting on the actual procedure on how to change the heater core itself. Does anyone have copies of the instructions on how to change it?

The truck has zero heat, and thermostat was just replaced and the cooling system is still pretty new. The whole engine was just changed a couple years ago, but it is still the standard 22RE.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

What temp is the t-stat I just went thru this issue and turns out I had put in a 180 degree t-stat when it should've been 190-210 when I dropped the 192 in I had heat. Call a dealer to find out they will have the for sure answer about what temp you need.

just idea you should take a look under the dash at the wires that connect the control panel that adjusts the heat ect follow them make sure when changing the tempertaure on the control unit they move properly. Theres a door that shuts off the cold air and opens the hot air flow to your heater core it sticks sometimes,, or comes off
ALso watch the valves that open on your firewall they open and close too.

The Thermostat is that what you are reffering too? IF you want ot check that heat it up and watch it open when it cools it will shut if functioning properly..

To change the heater core in your truck you have to remove the complete dash, its not as hard as it looks, and the total job takes about 4 hours from start to finish, but as mentioned above, make sure you have the correct thermostat, and another thing to check is the heater control valve, make sure its opening as it should, sometimes they can get stuck closed.

on a mercedes i used to own, there was a little electric inline transfer pump that pumped the coolant through the heater core. i wonder if one of them would help?

i will put five bucks on a garden hose cleaning it out.
