It’s simple and takes less than 5 minutes to do both sides

pry cover with a pry tool

push filter holder tab and remove filter (shown with pry tool but just use your index finger)

clean filter with compressed air (or canned air) blowing out from the backside and in my case a silicone brush for the golden retriever hair

Still see light, so it’s not fully clogged yet

and put everything back together and repeat on the other side

I had a Golden, 2 Newfs and a Border-Collie, they owned the bed of my truck (had a shell on it back then). Regular fur convention!
It rode better with them in it too.

Honestly, for an $11 filter, I replace them once a year whether they need it or not, but having the puppies, I might change it every other oil change.

Nope… 5,000 miles

I’ll just probably replace the filter after 40,000 miles. Order it online from parts.Toyota.com and pick up at local dealership
