Clear tails... not the red/clear ones on a 96... would they be illegal even if i had the good colored bulbs? Also someone could make alot of money if they designed altezzas for out gen3's.
Actually yes they are illegal, even if you have colored bulbs they can ticket you because the Taillghts aren't D.O.T. approved or some shit like that It's pretty stupid if you ask me, cops should be out preventing murders and robberies, not giving people tickets over something so small
(e) Taillamps shall be red in color and shall be plainly visible
from all distances within 500 feet to the rear except that taillamps
on vehicles manufactured after January 1, 1969, shall be plainly
visible from all distances within 1,000 feet to the rear.
does this mean red in color once illuminated? rx330 tail lights arnt red, there is no red in them untill the lights are turned on or the break pedal is pressed.
Yes, but RX330 taillights are approved by DOT and come on the car from the factory. This section of the law covers "lighting modifications," meaning aftermarket stuff, not what your car came with from the factory.
These laws are so f**king gay. I'm sorry but I have looked at my clear taillghts and I have looked at the stock Lexus ones and there's almost no difference. The Lexus ones have "Red" bulbs just like mine. The only difference is they're DOT approved. If you ask me it just another law that enables cops to harrass Tuners
Gotta love manufacturer loopholes.... I actually called the local cops to ask them, and I just asked if the lense had to have a red reflector. He said, "yup." But I like the RX330 tails, which DON'T have that....
