Been trying for an hr to do a search, system is slowww.
How long or how many miles does it take to clear the codes once you've deleted them?
Is it faster to disconnect the battery?.
Need to get registration done asap.

Well, if you've fixed whatever was causing the codes then the light should have been cleared within the first drive. You can clear the light by disconnecting the negative battery cable to the battery, but the code(s) may still be stored in the ECU.

IF the actual problem is solved, disconnecting the battery should clear the light. If you live in an emissions test area here, it will still show up as a code when they plug you into their scanner. It takes some time for the code to disappear from the ECU even if it's deleted with a scan tool. I went through that getting an inspection done due to an 02 sensor code after I replaced the sensor and cleared the code. After driving a few times and a couple of hundred miles, all was good.
