Hey guys, i'm on a road trip and need your help. All of the sudden my car is making clicking sounds from the front end. It's a constant clicking sound as soon as I let off the accelerator. It seems to be coming from left of center. I cannot tell exactly where. A quick inspection of the suspension on both sides turned up no answers.

I first noticed the sound when driving 15mph in a parking lot and letting off the throttle and coasting. It's gotten louder since and happens every time I let off the accelerator.

My initial thoughts are possible CV shaft issue. Has anyone seen this issue before and will it need fixing ASAP? I'm 1000 miles from home...

Car is a 2006 Matrix 1.8l FWD auto

I assume you don't hear this clicking noise when...
1. idling
2. revving while idling
3. going over speed bump at 5 to 10 mph
4. going at high speed causes car/steering wheel to shake

You can often hear the bad CV joint noise more clearly when turning sharply to the left or right while driving slow in a parking lot vs. driving straight at high speed.
If you here the noise on making hard left turn, then the right CV joint could be the problem, and visa versa.

Also, make sure you have no small rock inside the hub cap and no nail/rock in the tire.

About a month ago, my son's front left brake on the 2003 Corolla was going bad and
made combination of rubbing and clicking noise that increased with the speed.
After replacing front brake pads and greasing the metal contacts, the noise went away.
