Hello all,

As you can probably tell from my username, I am not a Toyota guy. But, I am helping my aunt fix her lighting issue in her 1997 4Runner. The clock is out, and as no junkyard in the area has any Toyota vehicles, she called the dealer and they said it was a $240 part. I am still trying to figure out who decided to put a clock outside from the radio anyways, pretty stupid idea if you ask me. So I said screw it and just wired her an aftermarket clock, thermometer. So, that problem is solved.

But wait, there's more. The backlighting for the climate control unit and radio are out as well. Does anyone know what kind of bulbs either take? I know there is probably nothing I can do with the radio, so I really don't care about that. But, I do care about the climate control unit lighting. All the buttons light up, just not the lighting for the control selection. I took off the cover for the unit, and all I could see is a frosted clear plastic piece in the middle. It looked like it could come off, but I had no idea how to do so.

So, my question is, can I replace the lighting for the climate control, and if so how?

Thank you very much,
Take care
