So i was driving my 1992 Camry on the highway, when all of a sudden it felt as if it was going to stall, yet the engine never quit. Instead, it felt as if someone had slammed on the breaks and let go, then slammed on the brakes again. I put the car in neutral and pulled over onto the shoulder. Turned off the car and looked around to see if it was something i'd hit on the road or a blown tire or anything. I got back into the car, it started up fine. Yet when I tried to drive it, it would only go about 50 feet then stop.

I'm not all knowing with cars but I have a bad feeling its the transmission. It seems to want to stay in first gear, but as soon as it is ready to go to second, the wheels lock up.

Anyone have a clue what this could be? I have to load it up and take it to the dealer in a day or so, but until then it would be nice to have an idea of what happened.

Specs:
5s-fe automatic. 150000 miles. Oil changed/checked regularly as well as all other fluids.

Thanks in advance for any ideas...

check your tranny pan to see if its leaking mabey your fluid drained and theres no pressure to shift, other than that check to see if one of your brakes are sticking, theres some thing caught in the intake, if all else failed it might be one of the tranny solenoids that went out that lets the car shift
