Code 51 and 43 ... ???

My light isnt on, but when I was playing with the timing and had the jumpers on the diognostic harness, these two codes popped up. I looked them up, but I still have no idea as to what they are refering to, or what the problem might be.

any ideas? The only issues I am having is an occasional stall when pushing in the clutch from a decent speed, and an irregular (within 100rpms) idle...
When the A/C is on, I do not have these issues. and I have removed and cleaned the Idle Control Valve twice... and the throttle body once..

1129, finish the description. Did you set the timing? What did you set it at? Did you turn off the engine before you removed the jumpers. Did you attach the jumpers before you started the engine? Did you check the idle with a tach?
The codes were there before I started actually moving the timing. The van was running when i put the jumpers on and were taken off before the engine was shut down.

There is something very strange with my van.... I am not sure as how to describe it, but My timing marks on the pully do not match up with the timing marks on the block. To get them even close, I have to turn the distr. all the way to the left. Doing that, it pretty much wont run ,So.. I have to play with it till it runs good . So, I cannot say exactly what the timing is at.. i am guessing around 10 to 12 btdc. spec is like 5, but it runs way better at 10 to 12 and i get way better mpg.

My van has a tach, and after jumping, it revs to about 1200 and after a few seconds, drops to about 800
1129, it is my understanding that the connections in the diagnostic box ('91-94') and the DLC3 ('96-'97) need to be made with the engine off. Then start the engine. As well, stop the engine to remove these diagnostic connections. It is what I read. I don't know what the consequense is to not follow these instructions. As well, the specs should be on the emissions tag under the hood for the specific model but following is what I find in print:

2TZ-FE - 5 degrees BTDC at idle
2TZ-FZE - 7-17 degrees BTDC at idle

It is imperitive to achieve specification idle prior to checking and/or adjusting timing. The idle speed will be proprietary to the model year and listed on the emissions tag. If the idle speed is not in spec then ignition timing cannot be performed. Idle speed must be adjusted first.
