I have a 2004 6 Cylinder 4wd Toyota Tacoma and when the temperature seems to be below 20 degrees, I hear a chirping noise coming from the rear of the truck. It starts when you hit around 30 mph to about 50mph and only when you feather the gas pedal. (The noise goes away when you coast or accelerate fast) I believe it has something to do with the driveshaft. If someone could please help me fix this noise problem? I have heard of a 2002 Tacoma having the same problem. Thanks!

have you tried greasing the drive shaft? There have been some other posts recently with a similar problem. I think one of them turned out to be a bad carrier bearing or u-joint on the driveshaft.

I had the same problem. At first it would happen every now n then. Then it became a daily thing at about 30-40mph real annoying and most of all embarrasing, and if you let off the gas and coast it would go away. I took it down to the shop got it suspended in the air to see if we could pin point it but it wouldnt do it in the air. Mechanic suggested Tranny flush , lubing shaft and swapping U joint. That did the trick for about 10,000 miles then came back to haunt me again, and all I did then was lube the shaft again, and havent heard anymore chirping for at least 30,000 miles.
