The seats in my '89 are pretty cashed (and ugly)...what are some more modern & comfy seats (used) from any manufacturer that could be bolted in? It would be awesome if they line right up...but I'd be willing to go to my mechanic if the seat was really nice and didn't require major modification...

All suggestions are welcome, thanks !

2nd gen 4runner buckets are almost a direct swap. Very comfy and supportive. Check out my build log for more https://www.toyotanation.com/threads/filthy-casual-rwd-xtra-cab-22re-build-log.1727379/
Hey, another quick question: I bought a dead 1990 4Runner 4x4 for the seats and some front end parts. I'm pretty sure that the 1990-1991 fenders/front bumpers/hood are a direct fit to my 1989 2wd pickup, but I'd like to be sure before I start pulling. I've read that '92-95 fit w/minor modification, but that the '90-91 4Runner parts are identical except for the wider fender flaring. Is this accurate, will they swap right over w/o modification, even 4x4 to 2wd? Any insight is much appreciated, thanks again!

Thanks, I'm planning on doing just that! First I'm swapping the passenger cushion to the driver bc it's fresher...

I've done the fender swap on my build, read about it here: https://www.toyotanation.com/threads/filthy-casual-rwd-xtra-cab-22re-build-log.1727379/

Thanks for that, I read through your build thread and enjoyed it a lot, even though most of it is way beyond my experience level. My understand though is that the 1990 & 1991 bumper (and maybe fenders) are identical (except for flaring on 4x4 fenders) to 89-95 pickup parts, where the '92-95 are slightly different. Do you happen to know if that's true? Could a person like me who's never done body work before swap fenders/hood/bumper from a '90 Runner to an '89 pickup?

I'm grateful for your help--it's hard to find this detailed info online

I'm not an expert on 4runners, but 1990-95 was the 2nd gen. They should all fit together fine. If you are unsure I would get a good look at your truck, take some pictures, and head to the junk yard to see for yourself.

Quote from Wikipedia:
In 1991 for the 1992 model year, the 4Runner received minor cosmetic updates, including one-piece front bumpers and modular headlamps instead of the increasingly outdated rectangular sealed beams. This facelift distanced the 4Runner somewhat from the Hilux pickups which did not receive the same cosmetic changes. At this time a wide-body version was introduced featuring extended wheel arch flares along with wider wheels and tires.

Additional cosmetic changes occurred between 1993 and 1995, the last year of the second generation.

The mounting points are probably the same if I were to bet on it

Edit: In fact I know they are the same because my truck is a 90' and the fenders are off a post-facelift 2nd gen 4runner. Matching the graphics on the fenders.

Thanks so much !

If I replace hood/front fenders/bumpers, there a particular order of replacement that's easiest/smartest to fit everything together?
