CamNub is right - Kazaa lite doesnt have spyware. you can tell if you compare the sizes between regular kazaa & klite (big difference.)
I actually went and bought spyhunter because I run adaware, spyblaster (which isnt really a spyware 'remover' i dont think - what it does is block things from running in your registry. that's the impression i got after SKIMMING thru what it said, tho. im not an 'expert,' just a user with his own comp that sits on it eternally at times), webroot SpySweeper, and McAfee VirusScan (which has a spysweep utility written in along with the virus software), and I have found things with SpyHunter that I didnt find with any of the aforementioned progs.
I dont know why the results were different, or where I might've picked them up at (porn site proly - stay away from those free sites & hackerish sites, & dont download ANYTHING that pops up at you), but the traces were called 'DyFuca' (anybody else find this lurking on their machines??).
I figured that it'd be better just to pay for the software because I didnt feel like opening up RegEdit and fucking around with my registry cuz one mistake could mean ... I dunno - big trouble. at the worst, i guess, it'd just mean reinstalling windows - but that's kind of a bitch, too, y'know?
oh yeh, I forgot (kinda wined up this morning) to mention that yeh, you can pick up viruses and shit off of peer-to-peer apps, but it's only from ppl dling things other than music files (mp3, wma, ogg, wav, ra) & movie files like .zip, .scr (.scr files pop up all the time in my email account - i think someone i know has one of those worm variants on their machine) or whatever else. Executable files are all over the place on comps that are sharing files, too, and they're something else you'd proly want to ignore. I know for sure that there isnt any way for ppl to write viruses to mp3s, or attach them to mp3 in any way. So far at least.
uhm. I run some other progs, too. One is called 'Codestuff Starter' that can erase start up items in your registry without getting your hands dirty (and extreme help after installing/running apps like mcafee, which is an app i prefer to keep in check because it does take up a lot of resources ... mostly due to the firewall & a registry/memory-monitoring apps).
something else you might wanna search up is an application called 'HiJackThis.' It scans your registry and makes a log file containing the names of everything thats running on your comp at the time. there's forums for this app you can take your log file to where willing ppl who feel like helping those less literate might take a look at it and give you some help or answer questions concerning your problems or worries about unrecognized processes.
