I installed and removed an iPod adaptor (PA15-TOY). Removed the wiring from the head unit, through the console under the shifter housing and into the center console storage area.

Now my gear selection (P-R-N-D-) is not lit at night. I think it was before, but not 100% sure.

Anyone know what I should be looking at?

I tried to look "through" this area with an inspection mirror and couldn't see anything loose. But you can't really get a good look in there without completely disassembling the entire console, which I'm hoping to avoid!

Well can anyone tell me if the gear selection on their console is lit?

I can use the dash indicator but want everything correct.

On my 2000 XLS, the console selector is backlit at night.

I "thought" mine was as well, 2000 XLS like yours.

Guess I broke something pulling out the iPod wiring, just don't know where to start the turd hunt.........

2000 Avalon XLS. The gear number window beside the stick is back lit.

If you eventually get to change the bulb (fused bulb is most likely the case for you), please post instruction how you did it. I won't mind replacing mine anyway since it does look dim due to age.

Are the cruise controls/switches on the steering wheel back-lit? Not in my case at least.

Console shift indicator is backlit at night.

Cruise Control buttons don't appear to be - mine have never lit up.
