Will using coolant additives with the hope of reducing the temp by a few degrees really have any effect with our 1zz-fe s?

not sure but I know Water Wetter did drop the coolant temp on my supercharged mustang

Use Royal Purple coolant. It's the best formula.

What I am really asking is:

Will cooler coolant improve 1ZZ-FE performance?

My guess is, for the most part the answer is no. I bet the engineers for Toyota's engine development spent plenty of time on finding the most efficient coolant temp. But I go to the auto store and see these products that say they will help. I am conflicted. What is your 1ZZ-FE experience?

no it won't. All they do is lower the temp of the coolant. that is all. for performance you need to start with air, exhaust, etc.
