Hey guys, I'm new to toyotas and there seems to be some coolant leaking from the rear of my engine. If you look by the passenger side of the engine, there's a pulley where the alternater belt runs on. Somewhere around there it seems like coolant is leaking. Does anyone know what it might be? I really need help because my car has been down for a week now. Any help is appreciated. thanks.

the water pump is back there, its the pulley with 2 belts on it. theres 2 important belts on this engine, one runs around the crank and alternator and water pump, one runs around the water pump to the power steering. some people with AC have an AC belt in there somewhere. look for the small belt tha drives the powersteering and find the double belted pulley of the water pump. look all around the water pump, theres a small hole behind the pulley on the neck that sticks out of the front of the pump, its called a weep hole. if the water is coming from there its time for a new water pump.

not hard to replace, and not terribly expensive either. replace the belts you take off as well. it can be done DIY in your driveway with basic hand tools in an afternoon. remember to get coolant and now is a great time to replace your radiator hoses and thermostat as well as replacing your engine coolant!

you wouldnt happen to be from c3g or mitsoafl would you?

dont forget your timing belt its right there too,

also there is a short hose that goes off the back of the pump to an aluminum pipe which goes up to the back of the head replace that short hose too

if its not the water pump jack it up take off the undershield and look around.
