Do a search on this problem. I posted this topic a few months ago when both my fuel and temp gauge went to max and stayed there. Ended up replacing the gauges. So far so good. Highly doubt that your float is "stuck" at full. They are a bulit-proof design. Quick check is to pull your fuse powering the gauges...should drop to empty.
