Corolla 1.3 GL - Fuel Gage ?

Hi, I've got problems with the fuel gage in my corolla. It's sitting at 1.4 full all the time. Any suggestions as to what's going on and how to fix please?

So how do I get to the actual float in the tank? Coat Hanger and torch? or do I need to take the tank out completely.... ?

Or just kick the car around a bit and shake it up and down ?
