I know - this is a pretty crazy observation but I've noticed after two weeks of driving with temps around the freezing mark that our temp gauge skips odd numbers!
29, 31 and 33 degrees are truly missing. Maybe more. Not a big deal but this was not the case with our 2004 LE.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I have noticed that, it seems like it prefers to skip random numbers at times. I've watched it before and say it was reading 28F, it would then jump down to 26F and not go to 27F, and other times it seemed to stay at 34F and not move for quite some time, then jump down to 32F.

probably an artifact of a combination of time constant, hysteresis, and rounding rules...stupid would be if the detector actually uses Celsius internally with a 1degC grid...but who knows.

i think i've noticed that once or twice, but then again i barely look
at the dam thing.

anyway would it also be affected if it was mounted near the
engine where it's hot? and also in the line of direct air flow?
both of these combinations could make it jump around like that.

when i had my jeep the air temp sensor was mounted in the front bumper
away from heat and wind.
is that the case with the camry?
never really looked for the sensor.
