Hey guys,
Techstream will work to diagnose OBD II, ABS, Immobilizer and SRS codes on the Gen 4. It won't work to customize options, because it didn't use a CAN protocol to control body functions. These were preprogrammed into the body control unit (under the driver's side dash near the fuse box with two plugs) and were wired directly to each function (windows, lights, locks etc).
I've tried it on my 99 Solara and a friend's 99 ES300 and no options show up.

Starting in 2002 the Camry/ ES300 had more customization options available. Here's a demo of what techstream can do in my old 2005 Lexus ES330:

What am I missing? Pic of what?
Sorry, Think I sped read to quick.

I didn't see a customization setting above so I thought a pic was attached.

But yea, speedkar got the information. I don't think any old Gen4 will have options as the Gen5+

Damn. That sucks. So, is there any way to change whether all doors or only driver unlock with one key fob button press? That one actually pisses me off.

You're XLE doesn't come with the keyless entry keyfob? From what I remember it came stock on 00-01, not to be confused with the RS3200 RS3000. One unlock press unlocks driver door, 2 quick consecutive unlocks button presses unlocks all doors, aND an oprion to turn off or "silence" beep, beep, beep sound. That is how it is on my LE 00 Camry.

I have 2 fobs. What I wanted to do is change it so one press unlocks all doors.
I changed that in my 01 GS430. I was hoping the Camry of that same year had that ability.
At least the Cam does not lock all the doors upon engagement of drive gear and does NOT unlock upon park. That was aggravating.

Unfortunately the "unlock all" isn't an optional customization feature on your Gen 4, since 01 was its last year. It seems like Toyota started these newer customization features (and CAN BUS communication) earlier with the Lexus lineup and then it trickled down to the Toyota lineup a few years later.

I too hate that you have to press twice (and sometimes your not sure if the second press registered) to unlock all doors. I'm sure you could rig the two lock actuators to just unlock together. Or wire up a secondary micro controller to "press" the unlock button twice when your remote is hit once.

+1, the double pulse is very annoying. This is the reason I put remote starts on all my cars as you can program it to send a double pulse. Back when I had an '99 Camry, I didn't even have a remote fob lol so the remote start came in clutch as my keyless. Even the remote start on my '04 RX330 has to send a double pulse (too lazy to reprogram it through techstream).

Nope. 02 and later, for Camrieses.

So, now, I must have changed something and I do not remember what.

When I try to unlock the driver (have not tried passenger) door with a dumb key, it sets the alarm off. I know it has not always been the case since I have a dumb key in my wallet and have locked the smart key in the ignition before.

I was going to create my own thread as to not hijack this one, BUT I see we've revived an older thread so I don't feel as bad LOL.

I have the cable required, a laptop and the techstream software installed. I wanted to at least check it out on my 2001 solara 5sfe 5 speed, but was worried I may damage something.

1.) Is there a proper or must-follow procedure for connecting to the car with techstream?

2.) Is it physically possibly for me to change a setting that could render the car useless or damage it?

Thanks in advance!
