2008 Camry. Under the car and discovered CV Axle ripped. Kids car, don't know how long been like this. I did a little research and saw axle replacement and a quick boot. But I have no idea.

What are my options?

@coopns do you plan to keep the car for any length of time? If so, I agree with the option of replacement. My son had a torn boot on his 02 Camry. We did the quick boot route. Wasn't a bad job but we were half way to an axle replacement at this point. The quick boot cracked as well and for the sake of time I put a different boot on it. This was a two piece that glued together so the axle didn't have to be removed from the hub. But now he has a click when turning so the axle is going to need replaced anyway. Should have done this the first time. 🤦‍♂️

I would replace the axle with a rebuilt. Yes, I did that on my '86 Camry and would do that with any other car with that condition. If you can't DIY, any good shop should be able to fix it without trouble. I would not waste time replacing just the boot, since it's all full of dirt in the grease.

if the car is a beater - for $50... replace. Use a Toyota trans seal - $25. If the existing has a rubber / metal damper on the shaft, just be aware that you may get driveline vibration if you go with an auto parts "will fit" rebuild or even new. If you really like the car and it is smooth and quiet and you need it to stay that way...get a Toyota axle.

if the axle is original i would consider rebuilding the axle replacing all the boots and grease with a toyota axle boot kit. it may be called a cv boot kit. it comes with inner and outer boots, boot clamp bands, and grease. videos on youtube show exactly how to do it.

Contact one of the online dealers and price out a reman axle. Get the axle seal too as others mentioned.

If you intend to reboot that joint, then you'll have to disassemble and inspect the parts. Making sure they're in condition for reuse, like no scoring, heat discoloration and other damage.

But for $50 driver side or $65 passenger side, I'd consider getting a new aftermarket Cardone axle and be done with it. Lifetime warranty. Be aware with rockauto buyer pays return shipping just about on all things. I think they pay to ship out warranty replacements.

The axle nut will have to be torqued to spec, with the wheel off the ground. A helper on the brakes helps. This is for the longevity of the wheel bearing.

By adding the -84 suffix to the "new" part numbers, I found these on McGeorge's site. At these prices, you can also consider getting a Toyota reman. I think 1-year warranty?

Right, 2.4L, $99:

Left, $99:
