I was replacing the struts today, and accidentally pulled the axle apart (43040 pieces on the diagram). A bunch of goo that looks like super thick motor oil came out and I need to replace it. But what is is? It’s too thick to be motor oil, gear oil, or trans fluid. Too thin to be grease. Anyone know?

Thanks!

Just regular grease? This stuff wasn’t as thick as normal grease. I guess it could be bc it was old and maybe still warm?

Just buy a new axle. You will never get it back together properly and it will fail

I was able to get it back together with no problems. It may fail, but who knows. I’ll throw some grease in there and see what happens.
