Ok update from my last post.

As I stated before it was a surprise the first time I heard the horn on the 08 HL. The beep-beep did not fit the character of the HL. After researching a bit I found that the only two SUV's that go Beep-Beep are the RAV4 and the HL.
All the rest have trumpet horns.

As my 07 Camry XLE has trumpet horns I wondered if the Camry horns would work on my HL. Same connector, Same fuse (10A), etc

Well they do. My HL now has a respectable horn

Soo..if there is any other obsessive compulsive owners that want to do a swap here is the info.

The 07 Camry Horn part numbers are:

86510-AA010 (High Pitched Horn)
86520-AA010 (Low Pitched Horn)

My source was the parts site for Toyota of Dallas

You use set 2 and "Search by Factory Part Number" and do a "Multiple part number search"

You enter both part numbers and press get parts

The years will show 2002-2003 but they are the same horn used on a 2007 Camry

The price is $41.08 each.

The process to swap the horns is fairly simple.
You remove the top Cool Air Intake Duct seal (the top black cover between the grill and the back of the radiator and just unbolt (12mm) the Beep beep horn, unplug, plug into the new horn, re-install the bolt and repeat on the other side.

Reinstall the top black cover and you are done. HONK>>HONK :thumbup: Camry horn on left, old HL horn on right

The Highlander horn is still a dual note horn, correct? It's just a higher pitch than the Camry dual note horn, which sounds more like an American car, right? What I can't stand is the high pitch single note horn, which is common on lower-priced Japanese cars.

They are the same horn.

I ordered 2007 Camry horns after I called and asked what the part numbers were. The catalog on the Toyota of Dallas site just has not been updated.

You can verify that the part numbers listed are for a 2007-08 Camry by asking your local parts department to verify them. There are probably other sources for these horns but I have dealt with Toyota of Dallas in the passed and their price was less that over the counter at my local dealer so I went with them.

The HL horns and the Camry horns are "Genuine Toyota" parts supplied by Denso and made in Indonesia.

No but if you are near a dealer or have a friend that has a new gen Camry (or you can just cut in front of one on the freeway :lol: NOT!!) you can do the honk test.

Has anyone else swapped the "Girly man" beep-beep horns for a "Real man" honk-honk horns??

I might be the only 08 Highlander in the US that sounds like a truck should

If you are a product of the 60's you could get horns that played tunes like the Duke horns..

Maybe we need speaker horns with pre-recorded messages..:ugh3:

LOL..sure:thumbup:! Maybe we could invent and tie in a gesture simulator too to allow us to keep both hands on the wheel! Nuthin' like a friendly wave after the horn gets their attention :naughty:

I like the idea of better horn sounds ... though there would have to be some limits on them b/c of the need to get someone's attention (i.e. a lot of cell phone ringers are ignored even by the owner).

Would be a challenge to find the space to mount them but they still exist

What horn?

I hate to admit this, but I've never heard the full-fledged horn on my baby. Out in this part of the country the International Sign of Ill Will (a.k.a., The Finger) is the universal substitute for the horn. Honking a horn will produce the same response. Now I gotta go out the the garage and honk that sucker....

I Chqanged My Horns

A world of differance. Changed months ago and bought them from Toyota of Dallas also. Much better sounding then the beep beep.
