Hey all,

New to forum and Toyota Highlander and loving it so far. Have a small issue, I wiped down dashboard this weekend with some armor all wipes and got a lot dry streaks all over the dash.

Tried covering them up again with regular armor all spray and cloth, it got rid most of them but a few still show up. Does anyone have this problem and is there a recommended cleaning product that is better for this plastic dash.

thanks!

I use Meguiar's Quick Interior Detailer for my dash. It does not leave a glossy finish which is annoying when driving on a very sunny day.

I had always used the ArmourAll Detailer Protectant (or just regular ArmourAll if I'm out) with a microfiber cloth and a good amount of pressure. Usually gets rid of those streaks, never ran into a time when it didn't remove them.
It does leave a slightly glossy finish (only slightly, just enough to not be dull).

I use a damp cotton cloth (water only) and never have any streaks and never had my dash peel or crack after 10 + years on all my vehicles.

I stopped using armour-all on my dash for that same reason. I used it all the time on my last Highlander.. the 2nd gen dash texture reminds me of dry-skin for some reason.. it's an odd texture... I just use a Swiffer pad or duster to get rid of the dust.. there's far too much pastic in that car to get it all.. I also find with the black interior the armour all rubs off easily and it just ends up looking like a mess..

Armor All has chaned their formula. Not as good as the stuff from 15 years ago. Your dash because of the airbags is molded differently. This is what you could be seeing. What I would recommend is to cover up all the windows with newspaper and blue tape. Then use a small paint brush so you do not get any armor all on the radio. Use a lot of armor all and leave it there overnight. Even take the top off. Drop a lot on the small bursh and wipe it all over the dash. Again, leave it in overnight so it soaks into the dash. Then go back with a microfiber towel and wipe in down the next day. You will see some inconsistency because of the dash. But this should help your problem with the streaking, etc.

Windex. Okay, don't flame me. lol. After I clean the inside of the windshield, I simply wipe off the overspray/mist that floated down onto the dash and take all the dust with it. Never had a problem with any of our dashes in the 25 years I've been doing this. After 7 1/2 years, the dash in my Tacoma still looks new (and it was parked outside for years).
