What are all the trims (CE, LE...) and what is the difference between them? Which one is the base model and which one comes with the most standard features?
Yup, 00-02 has 125HP. all that looks correct. S had color keyed mudguards, LE had black mudguards. S also had slightly larger sideskirts than CE/LEFirst off, they all have the same engine. 120hp 98-99, 125hp(?) 00-02.
CE = "cheap" edition, base model since 2001. Up to 00 there's a VE trim which is even cheaper. Both gets 175/65/14 tires.
LE = "Luxury" ie. auto only. Someone in the US is known to have 5-speed LE. Lucky bastards. 185/65/14 tires. power stuff, cruise control.
S is just ground effects, spoiler and black interior. 185/65/14 tires, cruise, power stuff all optional. S and LE has color keyed side moldings and mirror. S has fogs.
That sounds like a VE to me, except for no power mirrors which dont even include in a CE model. My 4-spd auto CE is pretty basic to the bone. No power locks, no power windows, no power mirrors, no cruise control, no sunroof. The only special feature it has is the daytime running lights, which I of course disabled![]()
The VE model is the lowest base model for 98-99. The original owner apparently only added a sunroof and alloy wheels without bothering to upgrade to power windows and door locks as well. You have an interesting layout.I am interested in buying a 1999 VE. It has stock alloy wheels and a power stock moon roof. roll up windows, no cruise. This seems wierd, did they come this way?
Sounds right. It should be automatic too I'm assuming.I have a 2000 Corolla with a spoiler, no side skirts, and fold down back seats. This is an LE model right? I bought it used and the emblem was remover so I'm not sure which model I have.
Correct, man I wish it was a 5-speed!Sounds right. It should be automatic too I'm assuming.
