Wait at least 2 hours after turning off car.(safer than sorry)
Find the fill hole,
remove cap or whatever that is keeping it shut.
Stick finger in fill hole
if fluid level inside is not even with bottom of fill hole proceed to A, if fluid level is even with fill hole, proceed to B

A)use any means you'd like to fill the transmisison with fluid through the hole, check level, if not even with hole, repeat A, if even with hole then proceed to B

B) cover fill hole, drink beer.

NOTE! Fill hole and drain plug may not be same hole!

A131L has a separate differential with drain and fill plugs.

I have a problem just recently as i was driving the front wheels locked up.
the tranny seems to shift ok into drive and reverse but it wont move
it will jerk when i put it in to drive and press on the gas like something
is holding it back Does any body know what the problem might be?
im thinking the differential but im not 100% any help or suggestions

then thats not a good sign if theres hesitation when the gas i applied, tranny could be slipping. did you start it then check? or was the car off for a while when you checked the level?

Did you fill your differential/transaxle resevoir after you drained your tranny? You may have made the same mistake I did with my 90 corolla.

I drained the the tranny from both drain plugs and only filled the tranny from the dipstick shaft. After driving it for two days, it did exactly what yours did. I fried my transaxle/transmission! It sounds like you might need a new transmission. They are not too difficult to replace if you are somewhat mechanically inclined. Go to a junkyard to buy a newer one. You'll save bou coup $$!

PM sent. Sorry, I misunderstood your problem. Try draining and filling the differential to see if anything changes. If it does, then definitely change your tranny fluid and filter. Better yet, take it somewhere to have it flushed clean. Hopefully you won't have the same problem I had. Good luck to you!
