First off I'd like to say this is a great site and you guys have some REALLY nice looking trucks on here.

With that being said, I am looking at buying a '08 Tacoma and I'm pretty sure I have all the options figured out except for one thing, the COLOR!

Right now it's a tossup between Black sand pearl and Silver streak mica. Black sand pearl just looks sooooo darn good, there is only one problem, the dirt/scratch issue. I realize this topic has been covered, but read on. I'm not gonna lie to myself, I don't really see myself washing/waxing the truck fanatically (I'm a pretty busy guy, btw trucks are supposed to be dirty..right?!? j/k) So that is where silver streak mica comes in.

So I guess I have a strange request, do any of you guy/gals have pictures you could put up of your trucks being dirty? NOT dirty as in "just got back from a day of muddin' " , but more along the lines of "normal driving" dirty.

The reason I ask is because my current vehicle is white, and when its dirty it really doesn't bother me too much.

All tacoma colors are welcome, but preferrably black sand pearl, silver streak mica, and perhaps super white.

Even if you don't post a pic, any advice/remarks are welcome, Thanks a bunch!

I was looking at the silver but ended up going with the alpine white or whatever its called. It hides scratches and dirt amazingly well. Ive had the truck since the start of december and i think ive washed it 3 times... Still looks fine. The excessive salt and sand being dumped on the highways was the only reason i eventually washed it.

A guy at work has the black and his truck and a few others that have come in have faded reaaaally fast. Also under his door handles and in a few other places the paint it really thin so id stay away from it.

I don't have any pics of my truck dirty from daily driving, but I have a silver doublecab and even with road salt all over the sides it doesn't look that dirty. It also hides scratches very well for the most part, and I have a lot of natural pin striping on my truck. :D

i've had my silver 5 lug reg cab for 4 months now and it is parked in a carport.
i only have 350 miles on it as i don't drive much.
get a lot of dust here and rain and have not washed it yet and still looks good !
i have had several company cars and the silver was the best for hiding dirt/scratches of all the colors i had ! (dark blue, gray.mud brown, light brown, dark green)

honestly, when it comes to color, its really on u. no matter what anyone will say, ultimately its up to u. sometimes it ends up being, the "color" the dealer had with the exact trim u wanted. good luck with the decision.

and welcome to TN

I like mine. We wanted Indigo Ink but at the time this was the only color I could get. I don't regret it.

Driving a dirty white truck doesn't fool me. I can tell if your truck is clean or not, no matter what color it is. Just get whatever color you want. I love my black because it looks great, and it's also easy to find matching black accessories, and also all the little trim stuff is black too, like the window trim, wipers, bumper plastic, grill insert, etc, so it flows together if you buy a truck with black paint. But Indigo Ink is sharp looking too. I also like Desert Sand Mica because it's more rare. It looks real good with a few black accessories and some bigger tires.

If you could get a Desert Sand Mica in a TRD Sport that would be the winner right there, but you can't. I went with black...umm...it was on the lot when I bought.

It's dirty all the time. I've had the truck for almost 3 years now, and I probably get out and wash/wax 2-3 times a year...other than that I spend the 9 bucks at the gas station from time to time to get it washed (touchless of course...) but yah...its always dirty...

Its got a tint of yellow right now from all the pollen which is kind of interesting, but who cares...

You can see pics of dirty (covered in dust after driving on a dirt road for 20 miles) and then clean, after I got back home:

My 2000 Tacoma was black and it was a PITA to keep clean. Immediately after I washed it, I'd see dust on it and want to wipe it down. Moving to CO, I knew black was not going to cut it, so silver it was. My truck is always dirty, since I only wash it every 1 - 2 months. When it's clean it's only clean for a day or two, due to the snow, rain, crap on the roads.

Of course this is just my opinion

As far as I know;
Desert Sand Mica (US) and
Frosted Mink Pearl (Canada) are the same color.
Mica and Pearl shouldn't be the same but I can't imagine Toyota uses a different color for each country. I've never seen them side by side though.

No offense to all the white owners out there but every white vehicle I see looks dirty and the black streaks from the weatherstripping.......

Get whatever color you like.

Me, I love the Indigo.:burnout::burnout::bowdown:

These pics were taken recently several days after I washed it. It gets a layer of dust and pollen every day where I park at work and I haven`t waxed it for months. Just a quick dust off with the microfiber and viola!

Look closer now.......see the inside of the tires & running gear? the fenderwells? under the cab behind the nerf bars? the SCRATCHES from the downed trees/brush :disappoin:eek:

Just saying it`s not that hard to keep a dark color looking good w/out a full detail job every other day :D

Here's my indigo (sorry not black or silver). It probably dosen't show as bad as black, but its kind of comparable. I've had it a little over a month and haven't washed it yet. JUNGLEMAN we better be careful or we'll start another indigo thread. :naughty:

I know, we better stop ..........right after this....
but he wanted pics :D
Actually, I like all the different colors. I guess it comes down to personal preference so pick the one you`ll be happy with.

Seriously.....even when it`s dirty I get compliments all the time

As far as scratches go, if you can stay out of the trees and brush :)naughty:) and use quality products you don`t really have to worry about swirls and spiderwebs but you do have to be a little more careful about people leaning on it or brushing up against it than you do with the lighter colors.

Oh........wait.....he said "normal" everyday driving.
-sorry-

At first I wanted the Super white just for the fact that its doesnt show scratches as easy as any other color. I ended up getting the silver and would not change it. I have 2 friends that have a white and black. One thing about black is that its gonna show everything. I dont know if anyone else has noticed it about the black but the fender flairs paint looks flatter than other colors. Plus if your not careful with waxing a black vehicle you can show swirls easier. As everyone else has pointed out you can see the streams of dirt on white mostly around corners. Now silver is not perfect but like white it doesnt show scratches easier. I have not washed mine for 2 weeks with heavy rain and snow. It still looked clean unless up close. I am particular when it comes to cleaning my truck and the only obvious dirty parts I can see is the brake dust on my front wheels and dirt on tires. Hope this helps you out. But like everyone else has said, just go with what you like the best. Dont have to be like everyone else. Good Luck
