I recently came across this on Amazon. It's a panel with a ball joint that replaces the OEM panel behind the infotainment system, so you can attach any phone mount on it. I don't like windshield mounts and vent mounts, so this was right up my alley.

It just came today so I installed it, even though it feels like -1° F outside.

Installation is very straightforward. Use a pry tool (one is included, but I used one I had lying around) to lift up the OEM panel pictured below. The item page on Amazon only shows the 12.3 inch screen, but it's compatible with the 8 inch screen as well (I have an XLE).

Now just press in the new panel. The package includes a magnetic phone mount, but I used a mount designed for my Galaxy Fold.

And you're done! I haven't driven around with my phone in it yet, but it already seems to be in a MUCH better position than any windshield or vent mount. Your phone will be in easy reach without blocking your line of sight, any buttons, or the valuable heat/AC.

Does the panel snap in place as firmly as the factory piece?

Is the mounting arm fairly rigid, no twisting, etc?
Yes, you have to press it down and snap it in place. The fit and finish is perfect, the mounting arm is perfectly measured out, it feels rigid, and doesn't move.

My phone is heavier than probably any phone out there, so only time will tell how solid the arm is.

And no, I'm not sponsored or anything. :) In fact I took a gamble buying this because I didn't know if the OEM panel was the same for both the 12 inch and 8 inch screens.

Wonder if it’s better than the corner double sided mount I’ve been using for a year or so now?

Got the same mount. Amazing mount. Sturdiest of any other one i tried including the custom made Ali Express one that goes around ebrake button. Threw that one out the same day i got it. Felt loose and too much vibration.

Pimpin, what is the name of that mount? Couple Qs. How does it attach to the car dash? Secondly, the circle mag facilitates wireless charging I assume, snake cable to USB below correct? But then if you want to use wired Apple Car Play gotta run another cable up to the phone’s lightning port? And there’s 360 adjustablility at the circle mag? Thanks.

It fits in the crease and help held on with automotive grade double sided tape. I had to replace it once already as it wasn’t strong enough.

The black circular holder which holds the apple MagSafe charger is this. Kuaguozhe Adhesive Car Mount Compatible with Mag Safe Charger - Use Together as Magnetic Phone Car Holder, Car Mount on Vent Dashboard, Compatible with iPhone 14 13 12 Pro Max Plus Mini https://a.co/d/6iCMujg

I’m trying to find where I got the mount. Someone else posted that here. I’ll reply back with it once I find it.

I use wireless apple care play with the wireless adapter plugged into the usb port. The cable is hidden in the crack between the gauge cluster and the dash and snakes around the steering below the push start button to above the aux power ports. The charger itself is plugged into this spigen and charges fast. I left some of the wiring sticking out to help show where it runs in the pics below.

This older topic should be able to fill in the blanks. It has the old mount. Amazon link doesn’t work any more but aliexpress may have it.
