Being a college student and paying my own bills, car payments, car insurance, school, etc. I don't have a lot of money to spare. I've searched for a simple iPod holder, but could not find one that would fit so I decided to make one out of a piece of wood. Took a couple of hours because I had to hand saw and hand sand everything. Pictures were taken on my phone so yeah...

The back. The cut line is so the wire can fit through the back

The top. Drilled bigger because the bigger part of the cord

The back with the cord in

Here's how it look placed in

Nice. Now you need to get a little minwax wood stain and some poly topcoat to finish it off.

I'd go with either a dark cherry or mahogony stain. The pine will stain lighter so you might need a couple of coats.

Looks good!

I thought that pocket in the Venza was designed to hold the iPod - iPhones. No?

It is, but for ipods with the scroll wheel it doesn't work so well. If you were to place those iPods in there the wheel would be too low and hard to press. At least for me it is.
Why not just use the USB plug instead and control it from the main unit?

There is no USB on 2009 models - It's about time Toyota provided the multi-media interface as a retrofit as a thankyou to us early purchasers who helped the give the Venza a good market.

Come on Toyota - you did it for the Prius.
Ouch! That is one of the killer features of the car (all subjective, of course)... :( Sorry to hear, I didn't realize this wasn't on the 2009's.

Yeah. That's what ticks me off. 2010s get BT calling and audio streaming AND USB. That's all I wanted in a AtoB car.
Nice bit of ingenuity :). Looks like it gets the job done well. Won't break in 5-seconds like a plastic one either. I've added the link to this thread in the DIY section of the newly created 'Venza MEGA Sticky'
I reallly hate that part, I don't own an iphone or iphone, and i doesn't fit my nexus cell phone. so whats the use? right now its my pen holder.
