some of the later model Toyota forums talk about oil cooler hose problems (rubber hoses to oil cooler that fail and spew out oil --replacement hoses are metal pipes,) and also mention another problem they call a VVT-i oil line problem.
In siennas and other models.

Are any of the 1st gen v6 3mzfe v6 engines afflicted with these issues?

I'll go out on a limb and state it's 2GR-FE V6 related issues. Those are different engine designs and had their issues. Including the start-up rattle when the cam phasers start to fail.
The 1MZ/3MZ-FE don't seem to have these...that I've yet to come across.

I'm not aware of any external engine oil lines on my 3mz-fe.
