Speaking of e-brake or parking brake, do you use yours? If so when? What are the advantages and disadvantages of using it?

I always set mine by habit even on flat surface. This is left over from driving a cargo van for 10 years (and three cars just followed the habit.

I use mine too. Advantage - it's a PITA if someone tries to tow you. Disadvantage - can't think of any. I hate it when people don't set theirs and the car rocks when you get in or out.

I use mine when I park in my driveway, most of the time it's in the garage, but my driveway has a little incline, and when I don't set the brake I hate the kind of clunk you hear when you put it in gear.
I am trying to get myself into the habit of using it all the time.

I have a preference for manual transmission cars and originally never used the parking brake. I just leave it in a lower gear. This turned out to be a bad idea. Unused parking brake cables tend to rust and seize up over time. Then when you need it, the thing is seized. So my new practice is to use the brake, even with an automatic.
