Yeah, haven’t seen a right hand drive one before. But it’s still electric power steering. It’s not a electric hydraulic power steering some people might think. There is a electric motor under the dash that helps with assisting. The rack itself has no traditional hydraulic lines. Pretty much a manual rack.

My 9th gen facelift model was made late 2004 right before facelift release in 2005.

2008 is the transitioning year from 9th to 10th gen.

Australia got the 10th gen in May 2007, once again ToyotaNation's policy of naming generations off US-market dates comes back to bite the international forum community.

By October all car mfgrs have switched over to the next model year.
Australia doesn't exactly follow the "model year" premise of the US (neither does most of the world). We'll have build year, but generally will just fall in to "pre-facelift' or "facelift" categories for any given generation (or maybe Series 1/2/3 etc)

Perhaps it’s a question for the 10th gen section
Looks like an admin has already moved this to the 10th Gen section for you

Ok, thanks heaps guys.
Are these electric power steering’s reliable and/or needing service?

no service needed, most complains are about steering wheel feel or lack thereof

reliability is equal or better than hydraulics since it has fewer parts, and if it fails there's no fluid mess and no chance of a belt jamming up other components or something like that, worst case you might get a blown fuse

I tend to rely on other things than a steering wheel when Im looking for feels :) I dont know what the enthousiasts have against this system. Only times I thought I would crash while steering was due to speed not steering imprecision or "soft steering with no hydraulic feel". Real racers dont use hydraulic PS either! ah !

If it fails and you need to replace , it is very costly.

That looks like a 2009 10th Gen Corolla so it should have EPS. My 2009 was made in 10/2008 and I bought it 11/2008. The 2008 Corolla was the last year for the 9th Gen Corolla. The 2009 started production early in March 2008.
