I noticed that my 2007 Corolla (purchased a few months ago) does not appear to have a "stop" (for lack of a better term) that holds the door in place when about halfway open. It just moves smoothly from closed to fully open. Is that normal? If not, how can this be remedied?

It's called a "door check" and it wears out because it is made of plastic. Plenty of videos on YouTube for how to replace it.

Our 4 doors had zero "stoppage" left in them. I restored them and they work like new again since they're quite expensive. There was a site that explained the process, I'll try to find it and post it.

Edit: I found the page. Repair door check/checker (that is used to close a door and prevent slamming)
You will have to bore the 2 weld spots out to disassemble it.

I have a 2004 corolla s. No door check in driver door. Does anyone know the part number for the bolts that hold the door check?

I found that all door stops will work on any corolla/matrix I pulled one off an 05 corolla and works fine in my matrix
