ive been somewhat drifting my 06 corolla for a few month now and thing im going to swap it to rwd and keep the same engine. is there any drivetrains that may fit or will i have to do some cutting and relocation? also are there any transmissions that fit the 1zz for rwd applications?

Cheaper to buy a rwd than a conversion. SC300/400 comes to mind or IS300, IS250/350.

1J or 2J with R15x transmission and rear diff.

i mean when the road is slick its possible to kick the rear out by weight shifting and the car enters a slide. it dosent have the power or tourqe or anyting to do it in dry weather sadly. also thats just how i do it in an actual rwd car you can push the clutch in rev it out dump it and that breaks the rear loose or use the e brake to lock the rear and that has a simallar effect

It’s all about the 1zz. There is a way to make it RWD and two people have done AWD thus far. With a couple more fab work, RWD is possible but it’s ganna need a lot of work. Just look on you tube. You will see two guys with AWD.

That’s all I have on that.

Yeah just get an MR-S. If you start cutting apart a fwd Corolla to make it into a rwd Corolla, you’ll get it all in pieces and it’ll never get finished, ever.

OP wants a 1zz. You can always get a MR2 Spyder

Try and drift in an MR2 and you'll become acquainted very quickly with your friendly local tree.

This thread is a bad idea from start to finish

i asked for options not people telling me i cant do this. i AM doing this even if i have to figure it outt myself lol
Many people (myself included) are currently unwilling to invest the time/money to create a custom drive train. I did that as a teenager (HP Chevy 396 in a Camaro) and the neverending modifications led me to conclude that I will never try that again. Of course, I would like to see what a custom drive train could do in a small car like a Corolla! I look forward to seeing your progress!
