From my readings here at the Nation, the stock Dunlops are crap. Wet, dry, snow, ice, sitting parked in a stall or driveway.

I know the BFG's are well liked, as are a few other makes. Do a search for tires and you'll be busy all night.

Yup practically had to give my dunlops away off craiglist. For all the ice we've been having the last couple of days, (I'm next door in VT), nothing but studs would help stop the ABS from kicking in. As said, you can search and read forever. Your choices are run a softer compound winter set of tires or better yet studded winter tires. Having the 06, we have the great and wonderful TPMS to work through. I mounted a set of All Terrains, not as good as winter tires, but monetarily what worked for me.

I took my Dunlops to Ocotillo Wells. They weren't great but they got the job done. I never got stuck, but there were definitely a few hairy moments.

I can tell you that they suck for mudding though, especially in a 2wd truck .

you are in for a pleasant surprise. that odd feeling of nearly rolling the truck each time you turn the steering wheel will magically vanish with a quality set of tires.
